You'll leave with new insights, a completed blueprint for the change you'd like to see, and action steps to make it happen. Compile these completed tools and you'll have a strong vision of where you're going. The magic of articulating a vision is that you'll automatically begin to create that reality!

Does a workshop sound a little scary? Workshops at the Self Development Place are different. You'll never be put on the spot or pushed in any way.

1. We'll start with a conversation about the needs of your particular group.
2. We'll then put together a customized program for your participants.
3. Each workshop consists of:
- An informational component
- An activity centered around a Self Development Place Life Design Tool

I. Develop Your Self
   
 

Reflections of You – your personal definition of success
For some, success is money and power; for others it is defined in terms of relationships and other less tangible factors. Using a simple formula, you’ll have the opportunity to create a personal definition of success that will help you balance competing demands and set priorities to manage the rush of daily life. This is a fantastic tool to have in your hands once the demands of fall start up.

Missing Pieces
We all have aspects of our selves that people don't usually see or that don't usually surface.  Perhaps there are elements of yourself that you've forgotten, a part of yourself that you somehow had left behind.  This conversation provides the space  to surface some of those precious pieces and build them back into your life.

Intentionally You – harness the power of intention
It’s your true intention, not a list of resolutions that will drive your choices as you move through a sea of situations in the upcoming year. What you choose to say and do, where you choose to place your energy — all depend on your deepest goals.

Dare to Imagine – "You must do the thing you think you cannot do"
Dare to Imagine is a brand new Sea Change workshop, where you’ll have a chance to think boldly about Eleanor Roosevelt’s famous line, “You must do the thing you think you cannot do” and envision what that might mean for you in your own life in the coming year.

Dare to Imagine is your opportunity to say aloud those thoughts that your mind wanders off to again and again. Giving voice to your imaginings in a supportive environment allows you to take those out-of-focus mental images and gradually give them shape and contours. It allows you to move from “wouldn’t it be nice?” to “how would I go about doing that?” And often it’s the seemingly small things like not saying “yes” when you mean “no”  -- or daring to say “yes” to something new that make the biggest difference.

   
II. Develop Your Life
   
 

Sea Change (3 sessions)
What major change or challenge are you getting ready to step into?

"Sea change" signifies a profound transformation. 
It's the shift in a relationship that happens when you trust yourself to say what you're really thinking and feeling.
It's the change in your energy that occurs when you have the courage to turn down a request – and find that you are still loved.

It's the world that opens up to you when you have the courage to travel to a new place that's beckoning you.

Following that energy, like traveling a path where you can only see the next three feet in front of you, creates sea change.

And that's what Sea Change is about – an opportunity to discover and explore the possibilities for major shifts in your life and how you feel about it --  in a framework that will help you make it happen.

Moments that take your breath away
The bliss of vacation; moments of powerful experience; joy – with some time to reflect and a spirit of intention, you can build these experiences into the life you lead every day. 

Finding Tuscany
What happens when we give voice to dreams that have long remained unspoken?

Dreams are delicate things.

In order to become reality, they need to be nurtured and helped on their way in an environment of safety and encouragement, where we can say what we've long kept to ourselves.

Giving voice to our dreams in a supportive environment allows us to take the out-of-focus images of our dreams and gradually give them shape and contours. It allows us to move from "wouldn't it be nice" to "how would I go about doing that?"

What's dream-worthy? It's not just the big things, like moving across the ocean to live "Under the Tuscan Sun." 

In reality, the most powerful dreams often sound trivial – but they're not!

That's because each of them is an expression of self. Acting on your dreams is a way of saying, "I am ! ! !" Bringing them into reality – even though they grow and change along the way – is a way of sculpting and refining the person you are meant to be.

III. Develop Your Space
   
 

Creating a space that's you – introduction
The space you create can be a reflection of your best self, a source of energy and comfort, and a means of reconnecting with the people and things that make you feel whole.  Shaping a Space That's You is an opportunity to apply principles of Design Psychology in designing a corner of your home to do all of those things.  You'll walk away with a plan that you can begin to implement as soon as you get home.

Creating a Virtual Comfort Cabinet
We each have certain things in our lives that supply us with an immediate sense of well-being just by being present.  In this hour, you'll have a chance to think deeply about what those things, people and ideas are for you.  By collecting these treasures in a virtual Comfort Cabinet, you'll have at your fingertips a source of energy and solace, and a means of reconnecting with the people and things that make you feel whole.  The bonus: Your discoveries are also the seeds for designing A Space That's You.

   
IV. Develop Your Resilience
   
 

Bouncing Back
Whether it's a chronic case of the blues or a major low, you can't will a depression away.  If that were possible, there wouldn't be so many people feeling so blue.  Medication can help, but rarely is it enough, because it doesn't get to the bottom of the depression. 

This seminar is designed to help you understand depression – yours or someone else's – and to begin to see a way to move past it.  Instead of fighting the symptoms, we'll talk about turning off the power to the causes

Instead of battling depression, we'll talk about approaches that cause it to simply dissolve.

Get it Done/What's Stopping You?!
Procrastination got you down? Here's a workshop with real kick!

Day 1: Understand & Plan   -- Together we'll explore barriers to completing (or even starting) projects that truly are important to you.  Next, you'll choose the one(s) you'd like to tackle first and create a plan. 

Day 2: Power Hours – Put your plan into action!  From your own location, call in at the beginning of each hour, list what you'll complete in the next hour, and it's READY, SET, GO!  Then report back at the end of the hour. The Power Hour is a proven strategy for getting it done!  Participate for a single hour between 10:30 and 3:30 -- or for the entire day.  You'll experience momentum by participating in even one Power Hour during the day.

Become a Power Hour group
With the help of a friend you can do almost anything.  Even clean the closets.  Or go back to school.  This mini-class will give you the tools to understand the barriers that make you put things off.  More important, you'll form a powerful ongoing group and learn how to help each other accomplish more in an hour than many people manage in a day.

  • Balance your own needs and development with the needs of the other important people in your life.
  • Set your own goals and standards and be able to say “no” to the demands of family and friends.
  • Change your own life without completely disrupting everyone else’s.
